Been a while. Again. I have to work on that...
It's the busy season, officially. Trying not to let it stress me out too much, but when it's the end of the day Tuesday and you've got part of Monday, part of Tuesday, and _none_ of Wednesday done...
And my back is hurting already, even though I've hardly made any trophies.
Gonna back up a bit, though, I think.
Lewis found out last week that he was going to be away all of this week, travelling to New Orleans and Portsmouth. Exactly _when_ he was going was fairly up in the air, but he was fairly definitely coming back Friday. Since we're heading out to AEthelmearc War Practice that day, we figured that he'd fly back into Pittsburgh instead of Philadelphia and I'd just pick him up there. With
giselle0002 riding out with me, the five-hour drive wouldn't be a problem.
Then
giselle0002's life blows up, and she can't make it. And that's a _long_ drive. Found out, though, that Ellesbeth wants to go so I talk to her and we arrange to ride out together. No problem.
_Then_ Lewis finds out he's supposed to fly down to New Orleans on _Sunday_ instead of Monday. Problem, especially as we'd already decided to try to make it down to Evan's to help with the Wreath meeting after the event Sunday. So we decided I'd drop him off at the airport and head down by myself.
It's Friday, I've got the car packed with stuff for the weekend and am packing up his clothes for next week, and he calls and says that things have changed and _now_ he's heading out Monday after all. At 3:30. And as he can't leave his car at the airport, I have to drive him down. During the busy season. Buh.
What with one thing and another, he just wound up coming to work with me Monday and spending about an hour and a half making trophies...
Southern Region Spring was a lot of fun, even with the scheduling-stress. Took Friday off, had us all packed and ready to go, we got down there and got the tent up with no issues. Hung out for a while. Someone handed me rum and I did my Captain Jack Sparrow imitation, to the amusement of many.
Note to self: when drinking rum, follow said rum with lots and lots of water.
Saturday morning was fairly slow and involved lots of squinting. Fortunately my stomach did not suffer, since Freya was making breakfast and I wouldn't have wanted to miss that.
Wandered off towards the fighting field, and wound up keeping Marguerite and Finn's new kid occupied. Watched him for a while (he was laying on the grass, occasionally putting bits into his mouth), then held him and let him teethe on my thumb for a bit (no teeth yet but it won't be long), then I laid down and put him on my stomach and we both took a rather nice nap. Apparently there are photographs but I hope to give those a miss.
Eventually got the heraldry table set up. Well, heraldry bench; it was too nice for me to want to stay inside, somewhat to Eldrich's dismay I think. Got very little business.
Went to see the A&S competition. Some _very_ nice stuff. Dietrich cooks; I think I knew that, but now I definitely do. The man makes pork I'm willing to _eat_.
Just before court the wind shifted and I could tell there was a storm coming. Ran into Gise just as she came to the same conclusion, and we found the king and said 'no, really, it's gonna rain, you want to move court...'
Isabel got her Manche, which I knew about. Mathilde got hers, which I _didn't_ know about, but I was there for it so it was all good.
Dinner at Bumper Bob's was excellent as usual. Feeling vaguely guilty about not staying for the feast, though, which was also apparently very good.
Piss-down raining when we got back. Made it as far as Rosamund's tent, which was large and open and lit and dry. She gave us klah (_very_ good stuff, I'm glad she doesn't make it in the mornings or I'd be addicted) and we warmed up and dried off. Eventually made it into the main hall for a couple games of Fluxx and a lot of talking. Broke Wulfgar. Ask me in person. :)
Woke up Sunday morning, showered, packed, headed south. Found out perhaps a half-hour later that we were headed for the Herveus's. Got a lot done at the meeting, went much more smoothly than last time. Asked Pedro if I could marry his wife, as she cooks like a goddess. He explained to me that according to his religion he's allowed two wives as long as he treats them equally, whereupon Rouland noted that I'd only mentioned marrying his wife, not him...
*chuckle* Pedro's cute, too, and he cooks well. I doubt I'd marry one without the other.
Left there around ten, got home around one, passed out hard, slept like rock.
More catchup tomorrow, as it's stupid late...
