There I was, working steadily on a long meditation about family and work. My mom called, and I stopped writing; somehow it didn't seem right to continue while I was talking to her.

Then the damn computer SHUT THE HELL DOWN.

So it's gone. I'll reconstruct it at some point, but not right now; now I'm backing things up, so Lewis can blow away my system and install Gentoo, which will with luck work better. But I'm going to be mostly offline until then.

Eventually, there will be useful updates. This ain't one.

Which reminds me of how much I want to get AOL off my system since upgrading to this POC called the "Security Edition" of AOL 9.0. Not only is AOL more pervasive than ever, it also has this annoying habit of popping up the whole AOL window over my browser screen whenever an IM pops in from a friend.

This is especially obnoxious when I am writing in LJ, though I still love my friends.

Happily, I should have an Adelphia account when I move in with Ryan. It also helps that the Adelphia building is right across the street from us. :D
