...I'm thinking about doing Lilies. I know some of you have been there. I vaguely remember tales of Pavel and lightning.

So what do I need to know before I start packing?

EDIT: I'm not seeing anything about pre-registration for attendance. Am I missing it? Or do I just pay at the door? (Already found merchant pre-reg, so I'm set there.)

Go. Just go.

Remember the directions.... (in case Liam is reading, it's a story.)

Drive the speed limit, they love radar traps near there.

It was amazing fun. Be prepared for greatness, silliness, and fun. And some rough weather, since from time to time it gets that way.

Bring a swimsuit - the lake is cold and the weather is hot.

If he'll hang on a surf board or something, bring him in the lake. :-)

my theory is that if its closer than an event you already did..... its do-able.
have never been there...but you should probably go.
treat it like Pennsic.. pack a wide range of clothing and layers just in case...

andi still hope you can come out here again sometime soon-ish

i have a small space. but its do able.
here is the pennsic side of the requirements...
if you are a shared space merchant, you need your own insurance and etc...
if you are merely providing stuff for the Fabric Dragon Booth (no outside signs saying your business name) then you dont...

i am paraphrasing.
either way you are fine to share space with me.. i may need to move you a bit in the course of the event.. i have extra tables and shelving.. so no need to pack the basics. i DO put people to work minding booth space and getting lunch...

need a tent to crash in? i have a HUGE two room tent over at Bhakail.... you could have your own room

sounds good to me..
the insurance thing sucks. i am on the plan with TW Moran (the blacksmith) where a group of us get together for insurance....but you dont need insurance if you are just selling stuff in "my booth"

its technically called a consignment merchant.

like i said, i have tables and shelving and all sorts of stuff, so you would really only need to pack any specialized displays and your product.. plus garb etc.

i MAY have a spare bed..in fact i suspect i do.. assuming you are ok on an air mattress. (i sleep on a camp cot)
which reduces what you have to pack... whether you sleep in my tent at Bhakail or with another camp....

IF you are staying with me in Bhakail, its helpful to pre reg with Bhakail so we get the extra space allotment. PS we have a hot shower.

help setting up and breaking down always useful!

I'm told it's a wonderful event. Also that the volatility of the weather makes Pennsic look tame.

Do yourself a favour and bring sunburn ointment as well as a winter coat. It is about as bizarre as Gulf Wash, but with more WTF? in the weather.

Line an elevated floor with sheep rugs and you'll be all set.

Lilies occasionally involves tornado warnings, so find out before you go what to do if the wind gets uppity. If you decide to go, let me know - I have family that will be there, and I may have need to hire a messenger.

Essentially it is hot, windy with episodes of dynamic weather. It could get chilly, but that would be exceptional.

Humid is possible though the wind would eliminate that discomfort, replacing it with hot dry and windy. No fire ants or scorpions, though ticks are a possibility for both you and the boy. Standard biting summer bugs are always to be considered.

Alas, I don't go to camping events any more due to medical stuff. I do live on the route to the site (I-70) so you are welcome to come by and visit.

Google Maps is your friend!
