Also so I can get to them anywhere, and in case I lose the piece of paper they're on. Verbatim, in all their odd glory.

Eight Pieces of Brocade

Simple movements done with breathing, energy and time. Chi kung exercises for improving and maintaining health, prolonging life, as a martial art, curing sickness, enlightenment. Regulate your body, root your body, regulate the breath, the mind (yi), chi and spirit (shen). Relaxation is the key. Stand quietly for a while before beginning.

1. Close eyes, calm mind, breath regularly. Open eyes, interlock fingers, raise straight above head, up on tiptoes. ("Double hands hold up the heavens") Drop heels, tilt left and then right, stand straight, hands down front. Works well with Sanjiao or triple heater. Repeat 24 times.

2. Squat in horse stance, root, back straight, tuck buttocks (emphasizes kidney area). Bring hands to prayer position, pull as if shooting a bow and arrow, left then right. Eyes stare at distant point. This increases chi circulation in kidney area. Repeat 12 in both directions.

3. Stand with feet parallel, shoulder width. Hands in front of stomach, palms facing up. Raise left hand to heavens (push upwards), right hand to earth (press downwards), return to center. Repeat process on opposite sides. Relaxes stomach muscles. Repeat 24 times.

4. Same stance as #3. Exhale and look behind in three positions. Hands naturally at sides, hands on kidneys-waist area, and with palms up in front of stomach/chest. Use your eyes, while turning head to look behind. This heals the five yin organs and injuries caused by emotions. 24 times.

5. Horse stance again. Root chi, place hands on knees with thumbs on outside of thighs. Chi moves to Yu Sen, and with weight on left leg, turn to the left, head spine and right leg extend. Hld 3 seconds, return to center. To remove excess fire from the heart, transfer to lungs, to subdue the fire. 24 times.

6. Feet shoulder distance, palms beside waist., lift hands, palms up, in front of chest, an lift above head (as if holding something). Hold 3 seconds. Bend forward arms extended and hold feet. Pull up on feet and focus on Yu Sen. Hold 3 seconds. This massages the kidneys and increases the flow of chi there. Repeat 16 times.

7. Horse stance. With body erect, and loose fists beside waist, Tighten fists and extend on arm to the side with a twisting punch motion. Other hand stays at side in tight fist. Finish punch, loosen both fists, return to center, and repeat on the other side. This piece raises the spirit of vitality. Repeat 8 times to both sides.

8. Feet shoulder distance apart. Use three positions, hands naturally at sides, hands on the waist, and hands in front of the chest. Raise up on your toes as high as you can for three seconds. Lower to the floor. Repeat in each position 24 times. After you finish, stand for 3 minutes, keep mind calm and breathe regularly. This exercise smooths the chi from head to toe, stimulating the six channels.

Ah. I was trying to guess what you were going to write about from the title, but I forgot that term for Ba Dua Jin (I refer to it as the Eight Fine Exercises).
