Then if you did, you'd be ready to talk about your entry as if you were talking to someone who understood what you were doing, and why you did it.

If you'd had plans to leave early, you might want to make the plans slightly flexible in the event of making it to the second round and court.

I wish there were easier ways to run this, but it's not my show - further comment can be added when we see each other next, preferably with alcohol involved and silly stories about breadzilla. ;)

Yeah but that's just it. The judges are not agents of Sauron or anything (might seem like it sometimes, but I heard this year the judges were selected more carefully... again, I had no part in it last time...). Doesn't mean you don't have the right to be nervous or panicky, just means it's supposed to make the judges a little more approachable.

And the winners get to decide the format for the following year... So this could very well change, too, and you may not have to be concerned about face-to-face next year, should you compete then.

Doesn't matter how nice they are, I'll still fall apart. I'm hoping less year's stresses the arts themselves more, and not presentation skills.
