cats: bored on the dash edition

[ Major Tom, a big grey tabby, is half-curled on the van’s dashboard, staring off to the right. His head is resting on one forepaw. The windshield behind him is pretty dirty. ]

Tom didn’t wind up with much time for adventuring on our trip to Colorado, alas. Partly due to most of our stops being at fighter practice, which involves PEOPLE, but also cos we didn’t wind up with time to stop anywhere he’d be able to get a good ramble.

I’ll have to make it up to him, but in the meantime, he spent a lot of time flopped on the dashboard.

Also, he doesn’t like getting his picture taken, so there were Opinions about that.

[ Tom’s turned so both of his forepaws are draped over the edge of the dash. His ears are sticking out at a variety of angles and he is pointedly not looking at the camera. ]

He did fit in a lot of napping …

[ He’s curled up again, head held just above one forepaw, eyes closed, but his ears are alert. ]

… but the camera usually wakes him up.

[ His eyes have opened, and his ears are sticking out to the sides. ]

Bored now, Mom. Soooooooooooo bored.

[ He’s flopped on his other side, forelegs stretched out in front of himself. The ennui is thick. Behind him, seen out the windshield, is a row of townhouses, all lit by the setting sun. ]

Strong passwords are the key. They probably can't get onto Facebook or whatever if they can't open a browser on your computer or phone, right? I mean, they'd at least need access once, to order a tablet or something using your credit card. Don't let this happen to you. :-)

(Does the camera wake him up even on vibrate/silent? Is it the shutter click, or that you're moving around to position the camera?)

I go on the theory that they're likely to order catnip first, thus giving me the chance to catch them before further damage is done, but that may be a bit too close to security by obscurity.

(I have gone from reading fanfic to trying to take a pic of him without moving the phone, which is, additionally, nearly always on silent, & I would REALLY like to know what's tipping him off.)
