Been a long couple weeks...

Coronation was up in Carolingia, so a bunch of us packed France and rode up on Friday. Stayed at Wes & EJ's, with [livejournal.com profile] freya46 and a couple from An Dubhthingy whose names I cannot remember. Up too late talking, plus an incident with a skunk in the garage.

Coronation was fun. We helped Freya a bit with setup, then sat through most of Last Court. The end-of-reign personal awards usually don't interest me a whole lot, though they're important to the people who get 'em, so I sort of drowsed through that part, at least until they gave Ros an Augmentation. I wish I could have seen the look on her face...

Thorson and Svava's procession was lovely, and I wish I could have heard more of the exchange between them and Kelson. I did get to see some of [livejournal.com profile] liamstliam's pictures later on, which was nice; I was sitting too far back to see a whole lot, either. But court ended and I did afternoon-eventy-stuff...ate, shopped a bit, hung out with people. Elias proved his Total Coolness by coming over to show me something which looked like a cookie...but was actually ship's biscuit. Rather like tough leather. Tasted like salty not-much. He worked from period sources but left out the sawdust which I will admit I was a bit grateful for. I ate about a quarter of one...in about an hour...along with three mugs of water. But see, the reason why Elias is Totally Cool is that he came bouncing over to show me his Cool New Thing...got me excited about it...and got me to try it.

Takes a lot of the romance right out of sailing, though.

Had one of those sorts of talks which always surprises the heck out of one, with someone who surprised the heck out of me to be having that conversation with...which is about all I'll say on that matter, except to add that I have spent a certain amount of time rearranging bits of my head since then, and will likely wind up doing a bit more in future. :)

Bought a couple of books from Small Churl, who set up outside...with no canopy...I was fairly worried about this, and spent a good portion of the day ready to dash over and start shedding items of clothing to cover the books...but the rain held off until after she'd broken down, so it was all good. Talked to Adrian and Peyton for a bit - she's selling perfume, which I think is just Too Cool, not even counting the fact that her stuff doesn't make my nose wrinkle up like the commercial stuff does. Not that I've _bought_ any, mind you, but I caught myself thinking about it...

Hung out with [livejournal.com profile] liamstliam for a while...stood along the edge of the list field talking to [livejournal.com profile] baronadhemar (apparently Lewis could hear the two of us cackling on the other side of the field)...stood in almost the same place talking to Sonja for a while...got about another five feet before being buttonholed by Ardenia to talk about stuff...and so it went, for a bit.

Missed all of first court (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] baronadhemar) helping Freya pack...four Eisental folk and Freya, and apparently we're pretty efficient. Got some insanely funny stories out of her, too. Freya's the bestest. Almost the only reason I stay on the EK list, these days...

Headed out, planning to hit a Vietnamese place for dinner. Wound up, though an odd series of events, at a 99 (that's a restaurant, yes) with roughly half the rest of the event. Sat next to [livejournal.com profile] baronadhemar and crew, laughed ourselves silly. Got back to Wes & EJ's, watched most of Fiddler on the Roof...wow. I'd has a vague notion that it was a sort of comedy-romance sort of thing, from the few songs I'd heard...and there's aspects of that, especially Tevye's conversations with God. But history-things and political-things and religious-things and a people to whom packing up what you can carry and moving on because that's all you can do is simply how the world works, every once in a while...

*shivers*

Stopped at Wright's Trim and Food Books on the way home. Got home, went over to Jodi's to take care of ferret and rats and Cutest Kitten Ever, came back home, went to bed.

Spent Monday cleaning my room, and working on the house. I've been doing a lot of rearranging up here, trying to turn 'the SCA stuff room (where Kate has a bit of space)' to 'Kate's room (with some of the SCA stuff too)'. That's mostly accomplished now, and it's a Very Good Thing, though there's more to do.

Worked Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday my back hurt a lot, so I stayed home. Tried to stick to computer stuff but did more cleaning than I probably ought to have...still was up to working Friday, though, and got home early enough to leave for Crusades at a decent time.

There's Crusades yet to go, but I'll get to that tomorrow...probably...

To do tomorrow:

Finish commentary on September
Do several pages of Brechenmacher Project
Work on my room
Do much laundry
Walk!
Put checks in bank (likely while walking)
Take comforters to dry cleaners
Scoop litterboxen
Maybe do some weeding if it's warm, and bring in plant
Water other plants

(edited over the course of the day to cross off things I've finished...)

I've let my brain rot over the last 15 years since I left college, so it doesn't really show. Especially since the working world has taught me to Keep It Simple, Stupid when I write and speak. I swear I had a higher grade active vocabulary in junior high school, when I didn't care if my so-called peers could understand me, let alone the word games I've always liked to play.
