Poor Chocolate's poor toes...

I'm not sure if Loiosh chewed him up or if he stepped on something when he got out a couple weeks ago or what, but it got pretty swollen and infected, and my efforts to treat it at home just weren't doing enough.

So off to the vet yesterday. Early, too, cos Chocolate had woken me up by demonstrating that he could chew on his toes even with the cone on. As this reduced them to hamburger, something clearly had to be done.

So there's me, half-awake at 9:40 at the vet's, and there's poor Chocolate who won't come out of the carrier, and we eventually just cracked the thing open and pulled him out the top. Not Amused Kitty.

They took him in back to clean and bandage his paw, which I'm fine with. Part of me wants to be there to keep him company when they're doing anything they call a Procedure but the rest of me doesn't want to faint. Again. Apparently he was well-behaved about it all, anyway.

So paw is bandaged. Thought about putting the cone back on but figured I'd wait and see. He's fussing with the bandage but not a lot, so the cone stays off as long as he's being good. Mostly he's washing the _rest_ of his body which was, I'll admit, getting kinda grimy.

He gets a bandage change on Saturday, before I head out to Newcomer's in Unser Hafen. Yeah, I'll have to get up in the morning again. Except an unanticipated afternoon nap behind the booth. :P Not A Morning Person.

In general, though, things are well. But the Get the Cat Fixed Sale? Now a Get the Cat's Paw Fixed Sale.

Poor baby. Did they figure out what was wrong? He needs a treat!

General infection, exacerbated by him walking in his litter (which I should have been changing more regularly; mea culpa). They apparently cleaned out a lot of crap -- not an abcess, just stuff -- which I think is helping a lot.

Plus the antibiotics horse pills. They're capsules and they're I swear a half-inch long -- think about this, relative to the size of a cat! Fortunately he's very tolerant of taking pills and mostly just needs a little help to swallow them. And he gets a treat after every one.

Really, he's mostly happy to be able to wash, and to snuggle his momma properly. I should post more pictures of him, but I get to frustrated trying to get them to turn out right! He winds up a silhouette with demon eyes pretty often alas.

He's feeling a lot better now -- at least he can wash properly! And I'm giving him many snugglings, and treats after every horse-pill antibiotic. Fortunately he's very tolerant of taking pills or I think there'd be serious trouble -- the things are capsules, a half an inch long.
