So I went up to Caer Galen Defender, put up my booth, all of that. Went to morning court. (Still getting used to the concept of morning court -- I guess that's part of how they keep courts shorter here). Loiosh divided his time between my lap and that of the lady next to me, one Catrin von Berlin (known as Gwen Cat), from whom I still need to get pictures...

I got called into court. I'd half-expected it, since the Queen really likes my kitten. So I collected Loiosh and went on up front.

That wasn't what they'd called me up for.

See, a few weeks ago Morgan, our lovely webmonkey, sent an email out to the list informing all and sundry that she'd updated the OP and would everyone have a look and see if she'd got anything wrong? So I went and checked, and lo, it said that I was a Companion of the Argent Hart. That's not right, I said, I wasn't eve at that event. Must have been a cut/paste error.

I sent off an email, and then went to check the kingdom site. Same problem. Okay, so it was a cut/paste from Kingdom. Sent off another email. Mentioned the oddity to Tim and to Bri.

...yeah, you're seeing it. No cut/paste error.

I have very little memory of what went on up there, other than the King telling me I should come to events more often (and me refraining from telling him that at the time I'd been working...IN HELL). And Loiosh being recalcitrant and not wanting to stay with either of them. And my braies falling down the whole time.

...yeah.

Anyway, the scroll is lovely, and I'm rather boggled, and flattered, but still boggled. For those of you what don't know, the Argent Hart is the AOA-level arts award for the kingdom. (As the kingdom also has grant-level awards, no, it's not a Manche; that's the Flower). The sum total of arts stuff I've done since I got here, and previous to Midwinter when I was _supposed_ to get the thing...

1) Entered and A&S competition, and lost.

2) Made a tunic for Tim.

3) ...

See?

So, whatever. Things Is Different Here. I ain't gonna complain though I think I might need a shot of rum at some point.

Of course it's a Maunche. The Maunche is AoA level too.

Congratulations, darling. You're a great artisan and they can see that. There are those of us back here too who saw it long ago... but you know how that story went. :/

Anyway, I'm so proud of you. And I'm proud of you setting up your shop. Bob is at his first Pennsic and I don't think we're gonna be able to keep the boy home on the farm now. ;)

Well, yes and no. Strictly speaking they're the same level, but as the East doesn't have grant-level awards, the Manche carries a lot more unofficial status than the Argent Hart. In that way it's closer to the flower.

Bullshit. In an Order of Precedence lineup, you'd stand right next to someone who got a Maunche on the same day. There is no "unofficial status". Just because the East makes you jump through hoops for a Maunche that most Kingdoms don't even set up for Peerages, it shouldn't make your award somehow less. Don't cheat yourself out of your rightful credit.
