Of deer paths and summer foliage

These days, I can follow a deer path just about as easily as most people can ... uh ... follow a deer path, I guess. If for most people 'following a deer path' means 'sometimes following a faint trail, and sometimes following where there's less poison ivy; also, falling down intermittently, getting one's clothing caught in everything, and eventually winding up lost in a briar patch'.
Problem with deer is, 1) they're shorter than we are; 2), they don't get poison ivy; and 3) they have fur, not clothing, which deals much better with poky plants, which is most of what I ran into that wasn't poison ivy.
I eventually got back to a path; not the one I'd left, but another one I recognized, which was fine as I wasn't lost. Got down to the creek shortly afterwards, and 'let me just dip my hands in quick' turned into 'shoes off, and wet to the hem of my clothing all round' which felt so so good. I'd've just got naked and gone splashing, but there were people around, and the water was a little shallow for it anyway.
What with one thing and another, though, it was the kind of day that ends in me shedding all my clothing into the washer, then showering with Dawn (Cuts Grease!) dishwashing detergent.
And now? I am clean, not too warm, only slightly achy, and will be making dinner soon. Life is good.
