start, stop, continue 2019 -- review

Doing a bit of business review -- this is the 'start, stop, continue' thing I posted last year, the closest I get to posting goals as such, & while there's something to be said for pretending a lot of 2020 didn't FUCKING HAPPEN, there's still stuff to learn. Probably. I guess.

But I'm IMMENSELY proud of what I did this year -- not just the surviving part, although YES THAT TOO, but I ran the numbers today, & y'all ...

Website sales DOUBLED. & that's NOT counting jewelry sales, just herbal stuff sales.

I went from no wholesale sales in 2019 to several THOUSAND in wholesale sales in 2020, nearly all in the second half of the year.

I've had my best day, month, & year of sales, by far, this year.

On the practical end of things, I roughly quadrupled my soap production. Maybe more than that. I haven't mathed that out. But a year ago I kept maybe twelve bars of each scent of soap in stock, & started thinking about making more when I was down to two or three. Now? I'm working towards keeping between thirty & forty of each scent, & desperately scrambling to make more when I get under ten. & none of that counts the custom soap I've been making for one wholesale customer.

... y'all, that is a BIG change for one year.

Fortunately that kind of logistics is the thing I'm GOOD at. Autistic focus FTW!

HOO BOY

Time for the yearly business review thing! & wow has it been a year! It goes like this:

-- what do I want to START doing in the next year? Anything from big projects to changing the way I think about things.

-- what do I want to STOP doing in the next year? What hasn't worked, what's pissing me off, what is okay but not worth the trouble?

-- what do I want to CONTINUE doing in the next year? What's working? What projects do you want to keep up on? What do you need to remind yourself to stick with?

(I got it from over here but it's apparently not uncommon as a thinking-through-things technique)

ANYWAY on the theory that transparency is a thing & also someone might have a useful comment & ALSO now I'll know where to find it, I'm posting these here now.( Read more... )
