So I got to the event, and started to actually have fun...

...and my guts informed me in No Uncertain Terms that I was going home.

:P

So I drove home yesterday, and watched Pirates of the Caribbean, and watched it again with the Johnny/Gore commentary, and watched the extra scenes, and watched it with the commentary from all of the screen writers, the latter of which was especially fascinating. Okay, I slept through the second half of PoTC the first time through, but I needed it...

On the up side, I got a lot of sewing done, and I posted a little piece to [livejournal.com profile] pirategasm this morning which has already received good reviews.

Debating going back up to the site for a while. Not sure it's wise, but dammit, I want at least to see people...

Considering naming the rat Oliver, per Appolonia's suggestion.

My guts seem to be considering a reconciliation.

I made it up to the event for several hours this afternoon, and felt...all right, if tired. Getting to hang out with people helped a lot with my mood. And I even had a little bit of lunch.

Derek, our former seneschal and currently leader of our local Landsknechts, asked me how their encampment looked this weekend. It looked _great_. They have great tents (well, almost all of them; the rest are way too new to be doing canvas yet); they have great cannons; they have great _bits_. Even their garb is getting really, really good. And I told him that.

I'm very pleased. The Shire is getting more and more authentic and it's a beautiful thing to see. And since so many people are doing such good stuff, that's what our newbies see, so they're doing better stuff, and discovering that it's really not all that hard before other people tell them how hard and expensive and awful it is to be authentic...

It helped with my enthusiasm for the SCA a bit. I'm pleased; I should tell Derek _that_, too.

Also, dinner seems like it could be a good idea. I sure hope so.
