Yeah but that's just it. The judges are not agents of Sauron or anything (might seem like it sometimes, but I heard this year the judges were selected more carefully... again, I had no part in it last time...). Doesn't mean you don't have the right to be nervous or panicky, just means it's supposed to make the judges a little more approachable.
And the winners get to decide the format for the following year... So this could very well change, too, and you may not have to be concerned about face-to-face next year, should you compete then.
