I've always loved the images Siegfried evokes. What better Germanic Hero?
But when I Googled to find something on him, I found a page on Siegfried Sassoon . . . a young, embittered WWI soldier turned poet. His tone and views seem to match well with you, darlin.
Yeah, sarcastic doesn't seem to quite catch the truth of it . .. but he's certainly letting the sanctimonious, self-righteous citizens who make war with other people's lives have it with both barrells . . .
She is so very funny, isn't she? I've heard one of her albums. The one with the ladies club and how to write a gilbert & sullivan opera and the ring cycle piece. Are there more, do you know?
We have her first four albums on vinyl (swiped from montuos's old family home before it burned):
Anna Russell Sings? Anna Russell Sings! Again? [this is the one you've heard] Anna Russell's Guide to Concert Audiences A Square Talk on Popular Music (or, The Decline and Fall of the Popular Song)
We also have three compilation CD's: The Anna Russell Album? [includes the three routines you've heard] Encore? Again?
The liner notes to Again? indicate that one of the later LPs was called Anna Russell in Darkest Africa.
Anyway, I found a fan page: The Anna Russell Shrine? (http://annarussellshrine.tripod.com/) so you can check it out.
A right proper name . . .

The Mythological Siegfried is cool in other ways . . . http://www.timelessmyths.com/norse/german.html#Siegfried
And now I'm going to go throw many things away.
Hugs and all . . .
