Which I then covered with lots of tape!

& then just basically kept up with taping & stapling on housewrap until I ran out of tyvek tape, staples, & housewrap all at once, which was clearly a sign to stop.

But hey, I got a lot done!

Next up? MORE ROOF

That's a pretty neat solution.. what are those called so I can look for something similar this side of the pond?

According to the receipt they are called 'strap ties'.

Hm.. evidently British/Euro ones are a different design then, because they don't look like what I'd call a strap tie. Oh well..

Indeed, according to the local Tool Station website, the thing that looks most like that is called a Roofing Strap. Which is logical, but it's not exactly the same. It doesn't have the flanges bit.. it's just a straight rectangle. with a row of holes either side.

Not all strap ties here do, either, to be fair; that one was just the closest length top what I needed. Also I'm kinda chuffed that I apparently used it on the right part of Tyrava, if not in the prescribed manner!

Good solution!

I heard back from some friends who've been to the Pinetop event. They said it was good, friendly people. VERY hot, no pets - they used to have dog(s) that traveled with them. Dunno if that would apply to vendor cats.

... oogh, yeah, that sounds Not Good for me. Usually if dogs aren't allowed cats aren't, either, & none of us deal well with heat.

I got invited to a show in your part of the world, though -- the Apple Festival at Nichols Ranch. (Well, they invited me to the Cherry Festival, too, but that's up against other stuff for me.) Have you heard of it?

I know of the cherry and apple festivals.  HOWEVER, I haven't attended the ones at Nichols.  You see, they used to be held in High rolls, which is half-way down the mountain between Cloudcroft and Alamogordo.  I think it was a year ago that they moved to Nichols when they a new senior center and demolished the site where it was held, which was a shame as it was a very nice site. I didn't make it down there as it just wasn't very convenient last year, but I'll try and make it down for the cherry festival and get a report for you.  Overall, the previous ones were general crafts fair sort of things, not really Ren Fest sorts, but soap sellers were definitely present, so you'd fit in.

I do try to do _some_ stuff that isn't as strictly geeky as SCA/ren/cons but it's usually pretty low on the priority list. The fact that they reached out to me (& that they allow cats) made this one pretty tempting, though. I feel like I've kind've made it? Or at least that I'm beginning to!
